A Marford store closed early following concerns of anti-social behaviour yesterday (Wednesday, November 9).

North Wales Police say they received reports of anti-social behaviour and shoplifting at the Co-op in the village which led the store to make the decision to shut early.

Vehicle owners who were attending a nearby gathering were also asked to move their vehicles to prevent any further disruption.

A spokesperson from North Wales Police said: “Shortly after 4.15pm yesterday (Wednesday, November 9th), we received reports of shoplifting and anti-social behaviour at the Co-op store on Marford Hill, Marford, Wrexham.

“As a result, the store took the decision to close early.

“Officers attended the scene, where vehicles belonging to attendees at a large gathering nearby had parked in an anti-social manner.

“Following a conversation with the vehicle owners, their vehicles were moved to prevent any further disruption.

“An investigation is ongoing in relation to the shoplifting offences and anyone with information is asked to contact officers via the website, or via 101, using reference 22000818976.”

A spokesperson for Co-op, said: “Our Marford store closed yesterday evening (Wednesday, 9 November) as a precaution on guidance from the authorities following concerns about anti-social behaviour in the village.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused, and the store has re-opened today as usual to serve the community.”
