RESPECTS will be paid to soldiers past and present during Remembrance Day events this weekend.

Remembrance Day is on November 11 as this is when WWI officially ended.

The Armistice was signed on November 11, 1918, and came into force at 11am.

That is why on Remembrance Day, people across the country take part in a two-minute moment of silence at 11am.

Below is a list of events taking place across both Flintshire and Wrexham as a mark of respect.

FLINTSHIRE

Mold’s Remembrance Sunday Service will take place outside the War Memorial at Bailey Hill on Sunday, November 13.

Representatives from Armed and Uniformed organisations, members of Mold Town Council and the public are invited to attend to pay their respects.

The service will commence at 10.50am following a remembrance service which will take place at St Mary’s Church at 10am.

The council will also hold a two-minute silence on Daniel Owen Square on Friday, November 11 at 11am. 

The Greenfield War Memorial will play host to a 20-minute remembrance service on Friday, November 11.

Residents are invited to attend the service on Dock Road at 10.55am.

There will also be a Remembrance Sunday service held at St James' Church in Holywell for 11am.

That will be followed by a parade which will set off from 11.45am that morning and a later act of Remembrance at Panton Place Memorial.

In Flint, an Armistice parade and service will take place at the cenotaph at 3pm on Sunday, November 13.

The parade will leave the Royal British Legion site at 2.45pm and residents, organisations and veterans are welcome to attend.

Meanwhile, in Connah's Quay, Friday, November 11 will see a short service take place at the Connah's Quay and Shotton War Memorial at 10.50am.

A Remembrance service will take place at the Civic Hall from 9.30am on Sunday, November 13. Members will then parade outside the hall and near the swimming baths.

This will be followed by a service and a laying of the wreaths at the war memorial.

In Buckley, the parade will muster at 9.30am on Sunday with a step off to St Matthews Church taking place at 10am, where a service will take place at 10.30am.

After the service, the parade will re-form on Church Road and lay a wreath on Fred Birks' memorial.

WREXHAM

In Wrexham itself, an air raid siren will be sounded on Friday, November 11.

The siren, which is located at Wrexham County Borough Museum can be heard an incredible two and a half miles away from the city centre and will act as a poignant moment as Wrexham stops to remember. 

The siren will sound at 11am on Friday, November 11, coinciding with a two minute silence which takes place on Queens Square following a bugler playing the Last Post at 10.59am. 

This year’s Annual Service of Remembrance will take place at Bodhyfryd on Sunday, November 13 starting at 10.55am.

At 10.59 a bugler will sound the “Last Post” and the two minute silence will be observed.

The public are invited to attend this very poignant event to remember those who fought and lost their lives during WW1, WW2 and subsequent conflicts.

Services in Gwersyllt will begin at 10.25am on Sunday, November 13. 

A parade comprising representatives of local organisations will form on Hazel Avenue off Wheatsheaf Lane (by the former Housing Estate Office).

Then, led by the Army Cadet Force, the Parade will proceed down Wheatsheaf Lane to the War Memorial where a Remembrance service will commence at 10.40am.

In Johnstown, a parade organised by Rhos Community Council, will take place from Victoria Avenue to St Mary's Church at 9.30am.

That will be followed by a service and wreath laying at the cenotaph on the high street.

Cefn Community Council has organised its remebrance service to be held at the cenotaph on Plas Kynaston Lane, Cefn Mawr, from 10.40am on Sunday, November 13.

A further service will then take place at the George Edwards Hall, Well Street, where Min Y Ddol School Choir will perform and a buffet will be provided.
