PLANS for a new Domino's in Flintshire have been given the go-ahead.

Planning approval has been granted to split the former B&M store on Flint Retail Park into three smaller units, one of which will be occupied by a Domino’s pizza takeaway.

A report from a Flintshire Council planning officer states: “The application proposes to sub-divide the existing 10,000sq ft unit into three smaller units. The applicant suggests that the large single unit has been difficult to attract tenants. In addition, whilst two of the units will remain A1 (retail/shops), the smallest of the new proposed units will provide hot food takeaway and will therefore be use class A3.

"Visually the most significant change will be the creation of three shopfronts as opposed to the existing singular."

It continues: "The application site is located within a well established retail unit that has been operational for a number of years. Recently the number of vacant units has increased on the site and the sub-division of this unit to ensure long term viability is understood."

The planning officer adds: “The site is on an established retail park and the principle is acceptable. The applicant is to be made aware of possible parking conflicts although this alone does not require the submission of further information or is significant enough to warrant a refusal.”

“The application is considered complaint with local and national planning policy and I recommend accordingly.”

The nearest current takeaway from the chain is in Queensferry. Domino's says the new site woill create 14 full and part-time jobs.
