WREXHAM Fans took their tops off at their latest home victory in honour of one of their own who died earlier this week.

Nigel Williams, who was from Wrexham, died aged 59 on the morning of Wednesday, October 26.

He had been at the Racecourse watching his beloved Wrexham beat Halifax Town 3-1 the evening before.

Mr Williams could regularly be seen celebrating the Reds' goals topless in the Tech End of the ground.

Today, at the Reds' impressive 4-0 National League win over Altrincham, a section of supporters took their tops off as a mark of respect to Mr Williams, who was described by his family as 'the life and soul of every party'.

Goals from Ollie Palmer (2), Paul Mullin and James Jones did the damage at the Racecourse to keep Wrexham in second place in the league table.

Spectators took time out to applaud for a minute in the 59th minute of the match (Mr Williams' age when he passed away).
