A PERSON was taken to hospital after a crash which shut a main road in Wrexham. 

Police said that the A539 near Penley was closed in both directions following the incident that involved an overturned car which occurred shortly before 10am on Thursday (October 27). The road reopened at about 1.30pm.

A North Wale Police spokesperson said: "We were called shortly after 10am this morning to a report of a one-vehicle road traffic collision on the A539 in Penley, Wrexham, which closed the road.

"Officers attended the incident in which a car had overturned, along with colleagues from the North Wales Fire and Rescue Service and Welsh Ambulance Service."

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called this morning at approximately 9.58am to reports of a road traffic collision on the A539 near Penley, Wrexham.

"We sent one emergency ambulances to the scene, and we were supported by our colleagues in the Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer service. We conveyed one patient to Wrexham Maelor Hospital for further treatment."

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service has said two crews from Ellesmere and Wrexham attended the incident and assisted with removal of the woman from the vehicle.
