Wrexham co-owner Ryan Reynolds has offered his support to a child in desperate need of life-saving treatment.

When Blyth Spartans and Wrexham AFC take to the field in today's FA Cup match, they will be joined by six-year-old Leland.

Leland, who lives in the North East, is a huge Newcastle fan has been diagnosed with Pre-Leukemia, and is in desperate need of a bone marrow transplant.

On an awareness page set up by Leland's mum, Sarah, it says that after developing a cough that wouldn't go away, a number of tests were completed before he had a bone marrow biopsy.

Then on September 8, Leland was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) and was advised that he needs a bone marrow transplant before the end of the year.

No one in his family is a match, which means Leland, is relying on a stranger to help him.

Blyth Spartans' JJ O'Donnell, shared Leland's story on his Twitter page yesterday, where he said he hoped he'd be walking out with Leland this afternoon.

After tagging Wrexham AFC and the Deadpool star in the post, the next update was a message from Reds owner Ryan, who passed on a message of support.

He said: "Well hi Leland, it's Ryan Reynolds.

"I'm shooting a movie right now and I'm in New York. I heard a little bit about you and your story and I know you've been going through hell.

"I just wanted to send you a little video and let you know I'm thinking about you.

"I know that you love football, that's one thing that you and I have in common. I also love football, but I would venture a bet that you know more about football than I do because I'm kind of new to it.

"I'm really excited for the match, I hope to see you out on the field, but more importantly I hope I get to meet you in person one of these days.

"I'm sending you all my love, not just from me, but the whole football community and my own family."

Leland replied to the video from Ryan, in which he thanked him for sending the video as well as thanking him for caring about him.
