READERS have been sending in their thoughts after a minute's silence in tribute to Queen Elizabeth II was disturbed by a 'small group' of people ahead of a Wrexham AFC match.

A minute's silence at the Racecourse ground, held in tribute to The Queen following her death aged 96 on Thursday, September 8, was interrupted ahead of the Reds' 4-1 win over Dagenham and Redbridge on Tuesday (September 13).

Wrexham officials expressed their disappointment at the 'small group' responsible for the disturbance, adding that those people were asked to leave the ground.

Many of them commented underneath the original Facebook post we put out regarding the club's statement of disappointment.

Jim Hamilton said: "Whether you're a royalist or not and have differing political views regarding the monarchy and Wales a one minute's silence as a mark of respect isn't difficult and shows true dignity of the person.

"Those who boo etc do nothing for any cause or agenda but just show themselves as complete morons and Wrexham were right to ask them to leave."

Jill Howell wrote: "Absolutely disgraceful, no matter what your thoughts are there is no need at all for this behaviour, they should be ashamed."

Bryan Pritchard told us: "I'm no royal but I respected the fact the Queen worked up till 48 hours before she died. Shame on you who spoiled a fantastic night for Wrexham FC. You missed a good game."

Veronica Jones said: "Well done Wrexham FC for removing them, there’s a time and place for everything, their action reflects badly on the club."

Tom Davies added: "They should do what Preston did and give them a life ban, a minute's silence means keep your mouth shut, it only gives the club a bad name."

Paz Parri said: "I would suggest over 9,700+ adhered to silence without any issues. We're talking about a tiny minority of near 10k in attendance."

Tracey Jones said: "Disrespectful and has let the club they support down."

Pauline Turner said: "Absolutely disgraceful no respect," while John Saunders wrote: "Barred for life, shame on you."
