A singer from Flintshire performed a cover of 'Dakota' by the Stereophonics on The Voice UK blind auditions.

Tom Collins was the sixth out of eight contestants to feature on last nights episode two of ITV's The Voice UK.

In the episode judges Olly Murs, Tom Jones, Anne Marie and Will.i.am sit with their backs facing the stage and have the opportunity to hit the buzzer, turn around, and bid for the singer to join their team.

Before heading on stage Tom said: "Today is absolutely massive, I never would of done this a few years ago."

Tom sang a version of the popular song Dakota by Welsh band, The Stereophonics, a choice which earned praise from judge Olly Murs.

Unfortunately despite the crowd and seemingly the judges enjoying his performance, no judges turned around for the singer.

However, both Anne Marie and Olly Murs commented after that they regretted their desicion with Olly Murs saying: "Gutted I am genuinely gutted I should of turned round".

Prior to his performance Tom could be seen coaching childrens football in his role as a member of the Flintshire Play Development Team.

He said: “When they see me they'll probably get a bit excited."

Toms' father reflected on the singers musical journey saying that he found his confidence and began his singing career at 17.

Despite not making it through to the competition, Tom said he was "more than grateful to be here" and that he "loves getting the crowd going and singing [his] heart out."

In a message on his facebook page, Tom Collins Music, he thanked the producers, contestants and his fans for their support.

"The contestants on it were fantastic and there were some phoenominal voices and some great talent."

"[...] Well done to all them"
