FIVE talented young dancers from Wrexham and Flintshire have been cast in a lavish production of Swan Lake.

The English Youth Ballet’s (EYB) performances will star six international principal dancers and showcase the talents of 80 young dancers.

Izzie Clarke, 15, from Oakenholt, Amelia Grace Lewis, 10, from Treuddyn, Mabli MacLeod, 14, from Wrexham, Eva Parry, nine, from Mold and Hannah Powell-Jones, 14, from Rossett, were selected to join EYB in a competitive video audition earlier this year. More than 150 dancers auditioned for the opportunity.

All the dancers are currently experiencing the life of a professional dancer in rehearsals. The whole cast of young dancers are excited to perform alongside international professional dancers in three performances of EYB’s Swan Lake at the Stoke Regent Theatre from September 23-24.

In preparation, the young cast will have rehearsed for 60 hours over 10 days of rehearsals at weekends.

EYB principal, Lyndsey Fraser, will be starring as Odile (The Black Swan) in the production. Before joining EYB she danced with the Vienna Festival Ballet.

She said: “I wish I had danced with EYB when I was young. The dancers learn so much about performance skills and the artistry of ballet.

"I love working as a principal dancer with EYB because I get to dance fantastic roles and teach and watch the young dancers progress.

"The sets and costumes in the production are superb and the whole experience is one the young dancers - and the audiences- will never forget!”
