NORTH Wales Police has revealed that its officers have handed out 'several tickets' to drivers not wearing seatbelts this week.

A spokesperson for NWP's Roads Policing Unit said that several drivers were issued with tickets on Tuesday, August 30.

They added that their officers had been patrolling the eastern parts of north Wales.

One man had previously received a ticket for not wearing a seatbelt just weeks before he received another yesterday.

Another was found to have no licence or insurance and was also disqualified from driving at the time of being stopped.

The spokesperson for NWP Roads Policing United said: "Yesterday (August 30), officers from the Eastern part of the force issued several tickets for occupants of vehicles not wearing their seatbelts.

"We robustly enforce this as ultimately it will save your life, this is known as one of the #Fatal5 offences that we deal with.

"You can face penalty notices, court costs and fines if you find yourself on the wrong end of one of our Traffic Offence Reports.

"One male had recently had a ticket for no seatbelt literally three weeks beforehand, and another male who was stopped didn’t have a licence, insurance, was disqualified from driving and had failed to appear at court.

"He was arrested and placed before the courts this morning for other motoring offences… all for not wearing a seatbelt. His vehicle was also seized.

"We aim to make the roads safer, only you can help with that by buckling up before each journey.

"Please belt up before each journey no matter how short it could save your life."
