A BRACELET made by a young fan and given to Paul Mullin may just have been the driving force behind the striker scoring his first Wrexham hat-trick.

The Reds talisman notched his first treble for the Reds in their 5-0 victory over Maidstone United on Saturday, August 20.

A Jordan Davies strike and an own goal completed the scoreline in the National League fixture held at the Racecourse.

If you believe in superstitions, then you may just believe that one young fan's gift to Mullin pre-match may just have inspired the forward onto a day to remember on a personal level.

After the match, Mullin took to Instagram to post on his stories about 'the young girl who brought me luck'.

Also pictured - alongisde the matchball he received for his treble - was the bracelet with the letters 'WXM' (Wrexham) and SPM 'Super Paul Mullin' on, as well as an attached note which read 'Ps I love you, score a hat-trick'.

The club's official account Tweeted about it earlier today.

The Leader did some digging earlier today and discovered that the bracelet and note was actually a gift from Alys Humphreys.

The nine-year-old was at the match alongside dad Al and younger brother Joe, who is seven years old.

Dad Al told us: "She missed Mullin before the game but she gave the bracelet and note to Aaron Hayden to give to him, which he did.

The Leader:

"She's absolutely made up that she's had a mention on his Instagram but it would be great for him to know who actually gave it to him too."

Al, who is from Wrexham, added: "This is Alys' second year as a season ticket holder. She's also been selected for the Wrexham girls under 10's development squad for this season which is great for her."

The resulting hat-trick from Mullin was the third of his career, but his first for Wrexham.

It was also the first treble scored by a player in the 22/23 National League season.
