A POLICE Inspector has urged a thief to come forward after a theft of expensive honey labelled "Winnie the Pooh shoplifting."

Officers in Wrexham deal with all kinds of incidents on a daily basis.

In his latest daily roundup of callouts, released on Friday morning, Wrexham Inspector Luke Hughes said: "Please keep cool and also a close eye on anyone less fortunate than yourselves, we are one community and we have to work together.

"Remain vigilant please and with the weather remaining very pleasant do take care when leaving doors and windows open, especially at night."

Here are some of the incidents police responded to in the preceding 24 hours:

7.40am – Report of noise nuisance from a multi-occupancy dwelling. Insp Hughes said: "Not strictly a police issue but neighbourhood police attend – it’s far too early for a party even if the weather is lovely."

9.08am – HGV collides with a bollard in the town centre.  Insp Hughes said: "Delivery vehicles are allowed at this time and bumps such as this are rare so not factored into the current quest to make the city centre safer."

10.11am – Vehicle fails to pay for £75.05 of fuel from local garage. Insp Hughes said: "Even when your stealing fuel, it’s hard to stop that gauge on £75 exactly… we do have quite a few 'making off' incidents reported that are clearly accidents, someone’s paid for a coffee and not the fuel etc.. However, this appears deliberate. Registration obtained and follow up enquires will be made by a desk based team so not to tie up local staff."

11.17am – Report of crashed / abandoned drone in the area of Kingsmill road.  Insp Hughes said: "If it’s yours, get in touch - quote B120049. Caller was concerned as she had heard that criminals use these to observe empty properties and it had been flying around the night before. Please don’t panic, I can’t recall any recent intel to suggest that might be the case, I suspect someone has a new toy and is now panicking as they have lost it, we will happily reunite if you come forwards and also advise you to be more considerate."

12:38pm – Report of elderly female who has fallen and has a head injury in the city centre. Insp Hughes said: "Local officers attend until ambulance arrives, hopefully superficial injuries."

1.50pm – Report of a male and female who have entered a large retailer and stolen a suitcase each. Insp Hughes said: "Their description given as female, blonde, hair tied up, pink top and black shorts. Male, black short cropped hair, had dark t-shirt and grey shorts, both large build in their early 50s. If that’s you and this is a genuine mistake please pop into the station and have a chat – we have CCTV and it will be circulated in due course, as it stands it appears you are about to go on your holidays but just don’t fancy paying for your suitcases. Please quote B120139."

3.41pm –  Insp Hughes said: "Winnie the Pooh shoplifting? Unknown suspect enters city centre shop and steals two jars of rather expensive honey... valued at £62 each. CCTV available, Winnie if you could just come forward and we can clear this one up discreetly… it’s a bit of a sticky situation at present and would be rather embarrassing if we were to circulate your images on social media. Please quote B120209."

7.49pm – Report of anti-social use of a quad near to Horsley Drive. Insp Hughes said: "Officers will attend tonight and ensure appropriate advice given. If a quad is 'road legal' riders do not need to wear a helmet, however, they do need to drive appropriately."

7.50pm – Report of suspicious male looking at a property in the Coed y Glyn estate. Insp Hughes said: "Possibly entirely innocent but happy to receive calls like this 24/7 if it prevents any more burglaries. Please report suspicious behaviour if you see it, you could prevent some significant upset if you prevent a crime, we need to work together and look out for each other."

The Inspector added: "We did attend a variety of social care incidents, missing persons and mental health incidents as a first service for other partners, appropriate referrals being made.

"Our 'Cop Shop' will be open from Saturday midday, if you’re in town please call past, we will also have staff at the play day in the city centre today, hopefully see you soon and please take care."
