A NUMBER of Wrexham and Flintshire residents have been dealt with by Magistrates Courts in the last week.

Here are some of those defendants, their offences and how the courts dealt with them:

  • Sophie Nicholls, aged 29 and of Shellbark Close in Wrexham, had her case heard at Worcester Justice Centre on August 5.

One charge of using a motor vehicle on a road / public place without third party insurance was proved by single justice procedure - the offence having taken place on December 30 last year in Shrewsbury.

Nicholls was fined £660 and ordered to pay £90 costs as well as a £66 victim surcharge.

Her driving record was endorsed with six points.

  • Darren Tulett, aged 49 and of Coed Aben in Wrexham, had his case dealt with by Wrexham Magistrates Court on August 3.

He admitted failing to comply with the community requirements of a suspended sentence order and was fined £50.

  • Johannah Christian Kelly-Parkinson, aged 45 and of Gorse Hill in Trelogan, Holywell, had her case dealt with by Mold Magistrates' Court on August 4.

One charge of exceeding a temporary 40mph speed restriction at Tal-y-Bont on January 13 was proved by single justice procedure.

She was fined £220 and ordered to pay £90 costs, as well as a £34 victim surcharge.

Her driving record was endorsed with three points.

  • Danny Brown, aged 31 and of High Street in Connah's Quay, had his case dealt with by Mold Magistrates' Court on August 4.

He admitted driving a motor vehicle while above the alcohol limit in Connah's Quay on July 6, as well as an offence of possessing cocaine at Llay on the same date.

For drink-driving he was fined £120 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £64, as well as £85 costs. He was also banned from driving for 16 months.

An additional fine of £40 was handed down for the cocaine possession.

  • Keenan Gordon Phelps, aged 24 and of Thornfield Avenue in Connah's Quay, appeared at Mold Magistrates Court on August 4.

He admitted failing to comply with the requirements of a community order, in that he did not attend a planned appointment in June.

The community order made by North East Wales Magistrates' Court in November last year was revoked and he was resentenced to a 12 month community order with 50 hours of unpaid work.

He was ordered to pay £65 costs.
