THE COMPANY which runs Plas Coch Retail Park has said it has changed its controversial car parking regulations.

Last month, The Leader reported that dozens of people had fallen foul of car parking restrictions which didn't allow people to park at the retail park and then walk over to shop at Sainsbury's and Aldi.

The Leader:

Savills, the appointed property manager of the retail park, has said neither supermarkets are part of the retail park.

It led to numerous people being slapped with £60 parking fines for leaving their car at the retail park whilst not shopping there.

People described it as "disgraceful" and "ridiculous".

One person said: "I parked outside Pets at Home to pick up dog food in my lunch hour and popped across to Sainsbury's for a sandwich.

"It's so silly - reduced speed along the bypass to help the environment but here they won't let you leave your car to cross the road."

The Leader: An example of one of the fines. An example of one of the fines.

But now, Savills has said car parking enforcement measures will only be in place at the retail park on Wrexham AFC home matchdays - to prevent people from parking there and heading off to The Racecourse.

A spokesperson for the company said: "As the appointed property manager at Plas Coch Retail Park, Savills can confirm that car park management will now only be in place on Wrexham FC match days, in order to avoid the parking facilities being used by non-customers.

"Updated signage will be installed to confirm the new regulations, stating that visitors who park a vehicle and leave the site will be fined on these days."
