A WREXHAM woman came in from a night out and smashed up her co-habitant's room after a dispute with her, a court heard.

Rio Carroll, of Crescent Road, appeared at Wrexham Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

The 20-year-old admitted that on April 30 she caused more than £800 worth of criminal damage to property.

Sara Worland, prosecuting, told the court that in the early hours of the morning the defendant went into a co-resident's room and "trashed" it.

Carroll had returned from a night out, "heavily intoxicated," and following a conflict between her and the complainant, she "smashed up the room."

The complainant wasn't there at the time, but when she returned a few days later she found a number of her possessions had been damaged including an iPhone, flat screen TV, straighteners and a laptop collectively worth £880.

When she was interviewed by police, she said she couldn't recall the events of the evening but she knew she'd done some property damage in the complainant's room.

It wasn't until the next morning that she realised the extent of the damage.
Alun Williams, defending, said his client believed she'd been given something at a pub which may have affected her behaviour, or acted as an "additional trigger" causing her to reach the level of intoxication she found herself in.

He conceded his client had "caused a considerable amount of damage," but said she'd issued an apology for her behaviour.

District Judge Gwyn Jones handed down a two year conditional discharge and ordered the defendant to pay £800 compensation.

He ordered no costs or victim surcharge.
