A MAN has been spotted wearing a Wrexham AFC tracksuit top at the 150th Golf Open Championships at St Andrew's - leading to amusement for fans of the club.

The competition teed off at the Scotland-based golf course on Thursday, July 14.

Pre-tournament favourite Rory McIlroy shot a six-under-par 66 to finish two behind early American pacesetter Cameron Young, who hit a bogey-free 64.

But, aside from the golfing action, it was a man wearing a Reds top who has caught the eye of Wrexham fans on Twitter.

The official Golf Channel Twitter page, which has one million followers and is run by American company NBC, shared a video on day one of the tournament.

In it, a woman retrieves her daughter's teddy bear after it falls onto the course. But those heroics aside, it is the man beside her who stood out in Red for Twitter users.

That prompted some Reds fans to comment on the sighting of the man who was scrolling through his phone at the time the camera was focused on him.

One wrote: "Wrexham are everywhere."

Another added: "Big Wrexham fan checking for updates on new signings."
