MENTAL HEALTH charity, Mind’s Flint Wellbeing Hub has seen the use of its services more than double in the wake of the pandemic.

The Flint Wellbeing Hub, located at Flint library on Church Street, Flint, is available for anyone who is having difficulty coping with life. The hub encourages people who feel as though they are struggling with their health, finances, relationship, loneliness, or any kind of stress or anxiety worries to pop in for a chat.

Jenny Murphy, North East Wales Mind Chief Executive, said: “Since covid, the number of people in Flint using our service has doubled.

“There are so many things that can affect people’s state of mind. Sometimes people just need a helping hand to get back on track.

“We want to bring together help and support under one roof for anybody who is struggling. The Flint Wellbeing Hub is there for anyone who doesn’t know where to turn to or simply needs a listening ear.”

Jenny added: “I certainly think there are a lot more people out there who are not aware of our services who would really benefit from talking to us. We have the facilities to support more people, especially young people, as we know that in the 18-25 category they are really struggling after the pandemic.”

“Finances is also a big thing now with the cost-of-living crisis, this effects most people now. We are keen to welcome more people.”

Wellbeing co-ordinator, Steph Phillips said: “There is a real mix of age groups we see coming through, I think a lot of younger people are certainly using the service since the pandemic. I don’t think people realise how much it affected them.”

One key aspect of the important work the Wellbeing Hub does is hold regular group activities, to act as a way for people to communicate and focus their minds on a meaningful activity with the support of staff and peers.

The Flint Wellbeing Hub is run in partnership by Aura Libraries, Flintshire Council and North East Wales Mind.

The Hub is funded by Betsi Cadwaldr University Health Board and is part of their network of ICAN Wellbeing Hubs which can be found throughout North Wales, providing easy access to wellbeing help and support.

The Hub can be contacted on 01352 974430.
