Ysgol Ty Ffynnon pupils perform ballet at Theatr Clwyd.

Selected pupils take part in Ballet Cymru DUETS sessions on a two-year program, and this is the school's second cohort of scholars taking part.

They recently attended a workshop at Theatr Clwyd, in Mold, where they were able to perform a piece of dance linked to the Ballet Cymru professionals' dance - Dreams - based on Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. Eleni Dance Company attend school weekly to train and work with the children and their performance at Theatr Clwyd had been prepared by them, in these workshops.

After their performance, the children were then able to watch Ballet Cymru's performance. For many children it was an opportunity to experience behind the scenes life at a real theatre or even their first visit to a theatre.

Headteacher Nia Goldsmith said: "The children were very excited, and their parents were very proud of them. Parents, grandparents and friends were invited to the evening performance, staff and governors also attended. A video was made of the performance, which can be seen on the Ballet Cymru web page, where children also talked about their experiences.

"The school are very proud to be associated with such professional dancers and involved in such a fantastic programme. The opportunities for the children could be life-changing and help them to fulfil their aspirations and aim high for their futures to make them ambitious, capable learners."
