EVENTS are being planned throughout Flintshire to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee.

From Thursday, June 2 to Sunday, June 5, the nation will celebrate the Queen's 70-year reign via a four-day weekend.

Street parties will be the most popular form of celebrating the occasion, with streets set to be adorned with Union Jack's.

But, there will be plenty of other events also on offer to help mark the magical milestone.

Here, we've rounded up the Flintshire events you can take part in to celebrate the Queen's special milestone ...

The Leader:

PIC: A number of events to mark Queen's Platinum Jubilee will take place in Flintshire.

HOLYWELL

Holywell Town Council will be hosting an event between 10am and 4pm on Thursday, June 2. This will include an artisan market with over 30 stalls and a mini fairground.

Junior sports day races will be held on the high street with the Holywell Town Band performing for care home residents at Panton Place at 1pm.

There will also be a Punch and Judy show, circus acts, fancy dress and so much more.

The town's Holy Trinity Church and Greenfield Valley will also be hosting their own celebrations.

A lighting of the beacons will take place at Greenfield docks for 9.45pm on Thursday, June 2 also.

MOLD

Residents are invited to celebrate the Queen's Jubilee with Mold Town Council as it hosts a community get together on Daniel Owen Square between 12pm and 3pm on Thursday, June 2.

Free tea and coffee will be available and Cravin’ will also be attending with their fabulous bakes for sale.

Entertainment will be provided by Mold Town Concert Band Sharon Wallace, Care Home and Retirement Village Singer and Bluegrass Irish band The Barnstormers.

 

BUCKLEY

The Leader:

After the great success at last year's Buckley Bounces Back, Mold and Buckley Round Table will be serving up a treat at the town's Queen's Jubilee Funday on Friday, June 3.

This year, as well as the barbecue, selling locally sourced burgers and sausages, they will also be running a bar, with local ales, lagers and ciders.

All profits made on the day go back into helping the local community, so be sure to visit the Common to support them!

 

FLINT

Thursday, June 2 will see guests gather on the banks of the River Dee for 9.20pm where a lighting of the beacons will take place. 

This ceremony will include pipers, buglers and the town's choirs so promises to be an event to remember.

On Sunday, June 5, guests can join the mayor for an afternoon tea on Church Street.

Afternoon tea will be provided free of charge for the first 200 people to attend, as well as a free mug.

 

CONNAH'S QUAY

Saturday, June 4 will see a street party take place at the John Summers Clocktower and Gardens between 10am and 11am.

This will be free for all the family and will include live music and events, exhibitions, food and drinks and plenty of stalls to suit everyone.

 

NORTHOP

Here the Queen’s Jubilee will be marked with a party on the pitch at Northop Hall Cricket Club on Sunday, June 5, starting midday.

Guests are invited to bring a picnic blanket or chairs and enjoy the Artisan stalls, free bouncy castle and even a Rodeo Bull!

There will be a Food van, ice cream van, face painting and the cricket club bar is open from midday to close!

Live music provided by Radio Deeside will keep guests entertained.

Royal fancy dress is also optional!

A flower festival will also be taking place between 10am and 4pm at Northop Church on Friday, June 3.

 

HALKYN

The Leader:

A lighting of the beacon will take place oat 9.45pm on Thursday, June 2.

This will take place on top of Foel Ffagnallt, Rhes-y-cae.
