David Preston the Chief Executive of the National Association of British Market Authorities (NABMA) said: “NABMA is grateful to Simon Baynes MP for his endorsement and support  of the market industry and  also the annual Love Your Local Market campaign celebrated throughout the UK and in 25 countries worldwide.

“Year on year, the appreciation of the value of markets increases and never more so than during Love Your Local Market 2022. This recognises the huge contribution that markets have made to their communities during the hardships of the pandemic and the value and pride placed in the local market and its local businesses.

“Love Your Local Market helps profile the vibrancy, history, and individuality of a town and its market with the added offers of low entry business start-up opportunities and many environmental gains with less packaging, local food and less miles travelled.”

Mr Baynes said: “It is an honour to be the Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Markets Group and to promote the importance of our markets and market traders across the UK in keeping our town centres alive and thriving.

“It was a pleasure to visit the market in Tŷ Pawb and to speak to so many exceptional stallholders who are proud of their market and the work they do.

“The Love Your Local Market campaign is all about celebrating the things that make our local markets special – including our exceptional stallholders who make, bake, design and sell some amazing products and gifts.

“I would encourage everyone in my constituency of Clwyd South, and elsewhere, to pop to your local market during the next week and support our local traders.”
