A FLINTSHIRE town's list of new businesses keeps on growing, bucking the national trend.

Mold town centre’s empty shop vacancy rate is currently less than 6% which is significantly lower than the rest of the country.

The town has welcomed over 50 new or expanded businesses in the last two years.

The town currently has a huge amount of independent shops along with a thriving street market, indoor market and monthly Farmers and Artisan markets plus a jam-packed events calendar.

Mold’s latest business to open its salon doors is ‘All About You’ Hair & Beauty Salon which has recently opened on New Street (previously occupied by Andrew Clifford Hair Salon).

All About You salon owner Kayleigh Crabtree, who is from Mold, has been in the hair and beauty business for over 20 years.

The Leader:

PIC: Mold Mayor Cllr Sarah Taylor at the All About You salon with business owner Kayleigh Crabtree.

She said “After being self-employed for six years in salons, I felt the time had come to open my own salon and having lived in Mold all my life, there was no other place I would rather start my new business venture.

“I am lucky enough to have a very loyal client base which has given me the confidence to make the move. In the future, I would like to provide quality training for upcoming hair and beauty apprentices, while maintaining our five star salon services for all existing and new clients.”

Mayor of Mold Councillor Sarah Taylor added: "I am staggered about the success of our amazing town, it seems to be a new business opening up literally every week.

"It was great to talk to Kayleigh and hear her plans for the future of the salon. I wish Kayleigh and her team the very best of luck.”

Joanna Douglass, business and regeneration officer at Mold Town Council added: "The reason for Mold’s success is down to the businesses themselves, with a host of independent retailers and businesses you can be sure to receive a warm welcome and exceptional customer service.

"It has never been more important to shop local, keeping our towns vibrant and providing a boost to the local economy.

The Leader:

PIC: The Big Fish is another thriving business in Mold which has recently been taken over by new owners.

“According to Totally Locally, if every adult in Mold spent just £5 per week in their local shops and businesses, instead of online or outside of the town, it would be worth £2 million going directly into our local economy. This means more jobs, a better high street, a stronger economy and a nicer place to live and visit.

"The community spirit here is really fantastic with strong support shown locally  and if you have not been to Mold before then come and visit, take time to explore this wonderful town. You will be glad you did!"
