A DEESIDE mother and daughter have launched a group aimed at tackling loneliness in the community.
The Connah's Quay Mix and Mingle group launches this Friday at the Labour Club on Fron Road.
It will run from 1pm each Friday and is open to everyone.
It has been set up by Emma Bircham, and her mum, Elaine Lambert.
Both over 30 years of combined experience working in social care and have seen first-hand how devastating the imapct of loneliness can - particuarly among the elderly members of the community.
Emma said: "The fact we have both worked with the elderly and vulnerable means we know how prevalent loneliness is in our community.
"We realised that even before Covid struck, many people didn't have regular visitors or things to do.
"But especially during covid they haven't even been able to go for a cuppa at a friend's house - so now we want to make sure no one ever has to feel alone by setting up this group."
Emma added: "We will have crafts, a book club, games, and eventually hoping to have speakers and and a lunch club.
"And if people just want to sit and talk we are there for that, too."
