A three-month Partial Closure Order has been enforced at a Wrexham address following a spate of anti-social behaviour reports.

An address on Empress Road had been the subject of a high number of ASB and drug-related incidents in recent months.

Granted on Friday, April 8, by Wrexham Magistrates’ Court, the order was enforced under Section 80 of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Disorder Act 2014.

Magistrates heard that the premises had also been used in connection with the unlawful use of a Class A controlled drugs.

The order prohibits anyone from remaining on or entering the premises, with the exception of tenants, housing agency employees, or maintenance workers instructed by the landlord to attend.

In the event of suspected ASB or criminal activity, a police officer may enter the premises and may use reasonable force to do so.

Anyone found in breach of the order can be fined and will be liable for prosecution.

Anti-Social Behaviour Officer, Llinos Preece said: “Closure Orders are a really valuable tool to tackle ASB and the process of applying for one is a long and involved one.

“We hope this action brings reassurance to residents living nearby, who have likely experienced significant disturbance as a result of previous incidents at this address.”

Inspector Luke Hughes said: “It’s business as usual for us now, whilst Covid is still about it’s time that people stopped relying on this as an excuse for inaction.

“This is one of a number of premises that are causing issues locally. It’s no longer fair or reasonable to expect members of the community to tolerate this sort of behaviour.

“Landlords take note; this PCO may be one of many to come. Get your act in order.”
