An international smash hit musical in coming to Flintshire next month.

Bill Kenwright's legendary, award-winning production of Blood Brothers, returns to Theatr Clwyd once again.

Blood Brothers tells the captivating and moving tale of twins separated at birth, who grow up on the opposite sides of the tracks, only to meet again with tragic consequences.

When Mrs Johnstone, a young mother, is deserted by her husband and left to her own devices to provide for seven hungry children, she takes a job as a housekeeper in order to make ends meet.

It is not long before her brittle world crashes around her when she discovers herself to be pregnant yet again - this time with twins! In a moment of weakness and desperation, she enters a secret pact with her employer which leads inexorably to the show's shattering climax.

Former X-Factor finalist, Niki Evans, returns to the iconic role of Mrs Johnstone, after first joining the show in London's West End and received standing ovations for her powerful and poignant ballads.

North Wales' very own Sean Jones returns as Mickey Johnstone, a role which he has previously made his own, to critical acclaim. This will be his final performance in the role.

Sean said: "My long connection with Theatr Clwyd began some 35 years when I joined the renowned Clwyd Youth Theatre and performed numerous shows on the stages in that building. Eventually joining a YTS scheme affiliated with the theatre!

"More recently I had the honour of performing in the world premiere of Jacqueline Wilson's Wave Me Goodbye, which was adapted for the stage by renowned playwright Emma Reeves (another Clwyd Youth Theatre alumni).

"In recent years I've also worked extensively with Theatr Clwyd's creative engagement department. I'm thrilled to be returning to the building where my love for acting and theatre was first nurtured. And to be home.

Daniel Taylor, who plays Mickey's twin Sammy, another regular face at Theatr Clwyd is also returning.

He said: "My theatre journey started as a YTS stage management trainee in Mold. Sean Jones, who plays my bro Mickey, introduced me to guitar and Clwyd Youth Theatre. I've since carved a career as both an actor and theatre producer. I owe Theatr Clwyd and Mold everything."

Written by award-winning playwright Willy Russell, few musicals have been received with such acclaim as the multi award-winning Blood Brothers.

Bill Kenwright's production surpassed 10,000 performances in London's West End, one of only three musicals ever to achieve that milestone.
