A MAN tried to "lash out" at door staff after being told he couldn't enter a bar because of his clothing, a court heard.

Nathan Robbins, of Welch Way in Wrexham, appeared at Wrexham Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

The 29-year-old admitted that on March 14 at Abbott Street in the town, he used threatening or abusive words or behaviour and he assaulted Hesham Mohammed Ayash by beating him.

Justin Espie, prosecuting, told the court that on the night of the offences, police were alerted by CCTV operatives to a disturbance outside the Penny Black.

Robbins had become abusive with a security guard outside the venue after he'd been denied entry due to the nature of his clothing.

He initially appeared compliant but then when he was told to leave the area, his demeanour "dramatically" changed, with him shouting and swearing - as well as taking "a swing" at the security worker.

Stephen Edwards, defending, told the court: "On this evening, he'd been out with his father and friends.

"They had been in the town centre and had been allowed entry to other places.

"It appears the Penny Black security officer's main objection was what he was wearing.

"He took umbrage with that and went to push or swing at the security officer.

"At some stage he's said 'f*** off' and the police weren't having it.

"He's very sorry for his behaviour."

District Judge Gwyn Jones told the defendant: "It is clear to me that you may have drunk more than was good for you.

"You attempted to lash out and you found out what happens."

He received fines totalling £350 and was ordered to pay £100 to the complainant, as well as £85 in costs.
