Wrexham Council are celebrating reaching the final four of the City of Culture bid, by offering a 'golden ticket' to one lucky resident.

It was announced last week that Wrexham had made the shortlist of four, alongside Bradford, County Durham, Southampton.

The winner of the culture bid is set to be announced in May after a panel carefully review the four remaining options.

To celebrate making the last four, Wrexham council has come up with a 'golden ticket' idea.

Similar to that of Willy Wonka in Charlie and the chocolate factory, Wrexham Council has placed a winning ticket inside one 2022/23 Council Tax reminder.

The winner will receive a weekend for two at a luxury glamping lodge at the five-star Plassey Holiday Park, alongside chauffer driven lifts and a meal at the Boat in Erbistock

If you are the lucky recipient, full details will be included to let you know how to claim your prize.

A spokesperson for the Wrecsam 2025 bid committee said: “A lot of the energy behind Wrexham’s bid has come from working closely with local businesses and communities to create that buzz and excitement, and we’ve organised lots of events and activities right up until the end of May.

“The ‘golden ticket’ idea is another great example of the creativity and community-focus driving our bid, and it’s been made possible by the generosity of local businesses willing to get involved and help create a wonderful prize for one lucky household.

“In fact we’ve funded over 50 events and activities right up until the end of May, and we’re encouraging everyone to keep an eye on social media for more details.”
