A joint cross-border policing operation resulted in significant arrests and vehicle seizures at the weekend.

Officers from North Wales Police and Merseyside Police carried out the operation on Saturday (5 March) and targeted suspected criminals using the road network from Merseyside into Wrexham.

North Wales Police’s Proactive Intercept Team and officers from the Wrexham Rural Local Policing Team were supported by officers from Merseyside’s Matrix Vehicle Enforcement Team (MVET) in the Wrexham area.

Eight vehicles were seized immediately, while numerous other vehicles were given immediate prohibition notices.

Wrexham Rural District Inspector Gavin Gilmore said: “Serious and organised crime is not constrained by policing boundaries, neither is our response.

“North Wales Police have a strong partnership with Merseyside Police, with operations such as this being just one strand of that.

“Our joint working will continue in our relentless pursuit of those who cause such significant harm to our communities and seek to profit from it.

“I would urge anybody with information that may help our pursuit of such criminals to share it with us. You can do this with absolute anonymity via Crimestoppers either online or by calling 0800 555 111.”
