A PUBLIC consultation has been launched in relation to plans to increase the capacity of two Flintshire primary schools.
Flintshire County Council is seeking the views of the public on potentially increasing the number of available places at Ysgol Penyffordd and Drury Primary School.
Ysgol Penyffordd:
The plan is to increase the capacity of the school from its current provision of 315 full time school places to 375 full time school places, an overall increase of 60 full time places from September 1, 2023.
The proposal would result in the school’s admission number increasing from 45 pupils per year group to 50 pupils per year group.
The increase in capacity would be delivered through an extension to the existing school building. It is proposed that the implementation of the new school capacity would be put in place after the building works are completed by September 1, 2023.
This consultation period ends on April 22, 2022.

Drury Primary School:
The Council proposes to deliver the additional school places by increasing the capacity of Drury Primary School from its current provision of 124 full time school places to 180 full time school places, an overall increase of 56 full time places, from September 1, 2024.
The proposal would result in the school’s admission number increasing from 17 pupils per year group to 25 pupils per year group.
The increase in capacity would be delivered through an extension to the existing school building. It is proposed that the implementation of the new school capacity would be put in place after the building works are completed by September 1, 2024.
The public consultation over this matter closes on April 11, 2022.
