THE teenage daughter of former England footballer Michael Owen has launched her own swimwear collection.

Gemma Owen, 18, launched the clothing brand, OG Swimwear this week. 

Her talents are not limited to fashion and business, as the 18-year-old represented Great Britain in equestrian dressage.

But now she is focused on her new venture, taking to Instagram on Monday to model some of the designs herself.

Gemma said: "My new brand OG Beachwear is officially live! People that know me will know that this has been a dream of mine for a long time and It feels amazing to have it finally up and running! 

Proud dad Michael, who played for Liverpool, Real Madrid, Newcastle and Manchester United during his footballing career, shared Gemma's posts.

He said: "Pretty damn proud of my daughter launching her new OG Beachwear brand."

Michael was born in Chester, attended Hawarden High School, and was selected for the Deeside Area Primary School's Under-11 team aged eight.

On the brand's website, Gemma explains how she decided to follow a career in fashion rather than sport.

She said: I have always been ambitious and from a very young age I have represented Great Britain in their equestrian dressage teams with the unwavering support from my parents, particularly my mother and best friend, Louise.

"Up until recent years I believed that was the career path for me but as much as I love my sport and have dedicated many years to it, upon leaving education I decided to take a different career path. My other passions are travel and fashion and that is how the dream of having my own swimwear label was born.

"After studying business and researching the swimwear fashion industry and what it would take to develop a swimwear collection, in 2020 I decided to go for it. For the following year, during the height of the global pandemic, I planned and developed the idea and OG Beachwear was created."

Talking about the collection, she added: "In recent years I’ve personally found it difficult to find luxurious and classy swimwear garments that have a luxury feel with a youthful edge and so this was the inspiration to create my label. My aim is to offer a brand that provides luxury, designer quality garments that ooze class and sophistication, with a hint of youth and sexiness. 

"At OG we aim to provide a one stop beachwear shop for men and women to find all holiday resort wear and accessories that encompass the luxury vibe."
