FREE sport sessions for young people in Wrexham will start next week at Brymbo Enterprise Centre.
Hosted by North Wales Police and Active Wrexham, the series of six weekly sessions will begin at 5pm on Friday, March 4 and run until Friday, April 8.

Anyone aged between 11-16 years old is welcome to attend, with football, martial arts and self-defence sessions on offer.
North Wales Police has secured funding from PACT (Police and Communities Together) for private coaches to provide these taster sessions.

Wrexham Rural Inspector Gavin Gilmore said: "We feel this is a great opportunity for young people in Wrexham.

"Many people say that there's not enough provision for young people in certain areas and that there's a lack of positive activities for them to engage with.

“It’s often said that this can lead to spikes in anti-social behaviour and crime, as well as drug and alcohol use.

“We believe that sports can give young people a sense of achievement, belonging and worth, with the added benefits of a healthy body and mind."

He added: "Our officers will attend to positively engage with the youngsters involved, with qualified WCBC Active Wrexham coaches running the sessions.

"Initiatives like these are really welcome because they can help young people to channel their energy into something enjoyable and keep them off the streets during the evenings.”
