AN APPEAL for information has been launched after a quad bike was stolen from a Flintshire farm.

North Wales Police say a red Honda 500cc quad bike (2012 model) was stolen from a farm near Flint.

They say the incident took place sometime between 4pm on Thursday, February 17 and 4pm on Friday, February 18.

A statement from NWP added: "There is no registration plate fitted on the vehicle. There is a tear on the seat. The keys were not with the vehicle at the time.

Please consider security around your farm and follow some of the below steps which may prevent your machinery being stolen."

Officers have issued the following advice to help keep items safe:

  • Restrict access
  • Try to keep the vehicles out of sight from nearby roads, as thieves will often survey properties looking for vehicles
  • Keep gates to yards closed, as open gates can be an open invitation to thieves. Lock barns or outbuildings doors at night using a heavy-duty secured by design approved hasp and staple with security padlock.
  • Use Clamps and Locks
  • Fit Immobilisation and Tracking Systems
  • Lighting is a good deterrent on a farm, especially in the long winter nights and around the barns where your quad/ATV are stored.
  • Keep a record of serial numbers, chassis and model numbers and take note of any custom marks on the vehicle.
  • Mark your Property
  • Remove Keys!
