A TOWN council in Flintshire is forming a community steering group in a bid to tackle local anti-social behaviour.

Mold Town Council has announced the scheme in response to local calls for action over a spate of anti-social behaviour events.

At its January meeting, the town council agreed to set up the group to try to "highlight and alleviate" some of the issues and work out a plan of action for addressing the situation in certain parts of the town.

Councillors are hoping to gain community input from various bodies and agencies within the group in an effort to improve life and well-being within those areas most seriously affected by this problem.

Youth and religious agencies, Flintshire County Council, schools and North Wales Police will all be invited to take part.

Town clerk, Ian Jones, said that residents and councillors are "fed up with the nuisance and distress" caused by those youths responsible for "misbehaving" and "making ordinary life unpleasant" some parts of the town.

It is hoped the first meeting of the group will be made on March 1 - once all the arrangements have been made with the agencies involved.
