Covid-19: Latest numbers in Flintshire and Wrexham

Public Health Wales figures released on Wednesday (January 26) show that there were 178 confirmed new cases in the two counties in the latest 24-hour period.

Of these, 95 were in Flintshire and 83 in Wrexham. Flintshire's seven-day infection rate is at 341, while Wrexham's is at 525. Both Flintshire and Wrexham's infection rates were up at nearly 1,000 earlier in January.

Across North Wales as a whole, 317 new cases were confirmed in the latest 24-hour period.

As of January 16, number of people being treated for Covid-19 in North Wales hospitals (349) remained at its highest point since the start of the pandemic.

The number makes up roughly 14 per cent of all inpatients in North Wales hospitals.

Sadly, a further four people who had tested Covid positive in the last 28 days died in Wales in the latest 24-hour period.

This takes Wales' total number of suspected Covid-related deaths since the start of the pandemic to 6,788.
