A TALENTED Wrexham artist has painted dozens of popular faces from across the town.

Adrian Medcalf, known for his work in painting the faces of Wrexham's homeless, has spent the last three years on a project painting the faces of some of the town's most loved characters.

"I just love faces, they are like a landscape to me," said Adrian, who uses oils on canvas for the portraits - which each take up to a week.

"It's taken about three years, and it's not finished yet - I've got a lot more to do," he said.

"I go around the pubs and get photos which I base my work on - so they duck when I go in the pub now!"

Adrian has been sharing photos of his paintings on local social media groups - and has received hundreds of likes, comments and shares.

People have described his work as "amazing" and "awe-inspiring".
And others have submitted photos of their loved ones, in the hope Adrian can paint them as well.

The inspiration for the project came from Adrian's work with Wrexham's homeless community.

"It all started after painted a homeless man from his mugshot when he was was getting a lot of publicity for begging in Wrexham.

"This led to me then working with the Wrexham Homeless charity - creating an exhibition of the faces of local homeless people.

"This gave me the idea to start painting faces of some of my friends and people who I know as being some of the larger than life characters of Wrexham."

Some of those included in the project include popular former landlords, barmaids, doormen and pub locals.

There is also a section titled 'Loved and missed', featuring some of Wrexham's absent friends.

The Yellow and Blue hub has offered to put Adrian's work on display as an exhibition.
