A team of fundraisers raised almost £4,000 for charity after a 40 mile walk from Penyffordd to Llandudno.

Steve Saxon, Manager at the Red Lion pub in Penyffordd, and a group of friends took on the challenge to celebrate Steve turning 40 this month, a task that took them over 15 hours!

The walk took place on Saturday January 16.

Steve, along with his good friend and drag act 'Sha Ggerda' were raising money for the Counselling Hub Charity, initially set up by the drag queen. The challenge raised almost £4,000, much to the delight of Mr Saxon, who said: "The walk was a great success. We started with nine walkers and five made it to the end of the course.

"We started at 5am on Saturday morning and ended up 43.3 miles later at Llandudno Pier at 8.15pm! A total of approximately 87,000 steps, 43.3 miles and almost £4,000 raised!

"It was a physically tough challenge for all involved - from the ex-forces fitness fanatic to the casual walker - we all ended up with blistered feet, bruised ankles and painful knees and hips … but it every step was worth it to raise money and awareness for the Counselling Hub charity.

"My aches and pains started 20 miles in around the Gronant area, there were many moments when I didn’t think I would personally make it but it’s amazing what the brain can do and I, along with all of my fellow walkers, persevered and was adamant that we had to complete this task.

"We are all extremely proud of what we have achieved personally, collectively and for a very worthy charity."
