A DEESIDE entrepreneur has raised £1,000 in aid of charity close to her heart through sales of a book.

With the help of 15 other business women, Katherine Massey wrote a charity book called 'Seen', to help raise funds for mental health charity Milestone Mums.

They shared their stories of overcoming adversity with the aim of inspiring other women to follow suit.

Funds raised will be used to support Milestone Mums meet ups and workshops to help reduce isolation among mums suffering with mental health issues.

46-year-old Katherine, who is the Visibility Alignment guide for The Visibility Academy membership for Women, said: "Milestone Mums is close to my heart because I have suffered my own mental health including post-natal depression and child emotional maltreatment, where I felt so lonely and isolated with nowhere to turn.

"I wanted to set myself a challenge which would push me out of my comfort zone, but more importantly, my intention was to highlight the incredible work of Sarah Finlay, Milestone Mums founder. They are the true heroes making a real difference to the local community."

Katherine was the project manager of facilitating the charity book and she interviewed 15 incredible women who were all up for sharing their stories.

Work on the book began in June 2021 and pre-orders began to come in by the end of September 2021. 'Seen' was officially launched on October 10, on World Mental Health Day.

Katherine added: "As a business, our mission is to create a safe space where every woman can be seen and heard. One of our key values is to let women know that it is okay not to be okay.

"I would like to thank everyone who has donated and helped us to raise awareness of the charity. It's amazing what we can achieve when we all work together!"

Milestone Mums was founded by Sarah Finlay in order to help de-stigmatise postnatal depression. It provides a safe non-judgemental environment where mums can get together to discuss their problems and receive support.

Natasha Hamilton from girlband Atomic Kitten is the charity's patron.
