CLWYD South MP Simon Baynes was full of praise for the hard-working staff at Bangor-on-Dee's Racecourse during a recent visit.

During his visit on Friday December 10, Mr Baynes met with Richard Aston (Chairman) and Jeannie Chantler (General Manager) and was given a tour of the racecourse during the Christmas Race Meeting.

Bangor-on-Dee is one of three major racecourses in Wales, alongside Chepstow Racecourse and Ffos Las Racecourse in Carmarthenshire.

Mr Baynes has praised the team at Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse for their hard work and enthusiasm in ensuring race days are enjoyed by visitors throughout the year and for their benefit to the local economy.

Simon Baynes MP said: “It was a pleasure to visit Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse on such a beautiful day and experience the last race meeting of 2021. During the visit, I met with Richard Aston, Jeannie Chantler and the staff at the racecourse who work incredibly hard throughout the year to ensure that race meetings are able to be enjoyed by so many people.

"Bangor-on-Dee is a remarkable racecourse and the only one we have here in North Wales, so it’s great to see we have such an impressive course here on our doorstep in Clwyd South.

“I would like to take this opportunity to wish all the staff at Bangor on Dee Racecourse a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2022”.

Racecourse General Manager Jeannie Chantler said: "Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse was delighted to welcome the Clwyd South Member of Parliament, Simon Baynes, to a race day in December 2021. We have been privileged to have been able to continue to race during the difficult times with strict guidance in place both from Parliament, the Welsh Government and the British Horseracing Authority and we look forward to being able to continue to do so."
