There is plenty more still to come, says our Lifetime Achievement award winner.

Phil Jones, of Marford, was nominated for one of our Community Heroes 2021 awards by his son Chris for his incredible dedication to charity work and volunteering.

Throughout his lifetime, Phil has raised millions of pounds for local charities, organised hundreds of trips and fundraisers and volunteered at dozens of sports teams and organisations.

When made aware that he was the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement award, it came as shock to Mr Jones.

He said: “It was a massive surprise to achieve an Leader Lifetime Achievement Award, but nonetheless incredibly humbling.

“It is important to recognise that much of what I have accomplished could not have been achieved without a great team behind me, which includes a fantastic wife and family – but in particular those who supported my projects at Airbus, the local Hospice, LEX XI FC, Gresford Athletic, M&G Albion and more recently the Wrexham Prostate Cancer Support Group.

“Rest assured, there is plenty of enthusiasm still left inside me and several more projects to conquer.”

Chris was understandably proud of his dad’s achievement.

He said: “I am absolutely delighted and exceptionally proud of everything Dad has achieved throughout his life.

“He is not happy unless he is dedicating his time and energy to helping others – from his own family, to both the local and wider national community – either in terms of raising money and organising events, or through lending his time and experience to help improve and develop the lives of those who need a little help.

“He doesn’t seek reward or praise, so I am very happy that he has received this acknowledgement of the hugely positive impact he’s had on the lives of so many across a lifetime of truly incredible kindness.”
