Storm Arwen caused chaos across Wrexham and Flintshire this weekend.

The Met Office issued a yellow weather warning early last week, before upgrading that to amber on Friday afternoon as North Wales prepared to be hit.

Flying debris that could lead to injuries or danger to life, difficult driving conditions and some road closures, damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds and power cuts, were some of the warnings given to the public prior to Storm Arwen by the Met Office.

It seems that those warnings came to fruition as hundreds across the two counties have been affected.

Tiles have flown off roofs, fences ripped out of place, trees torn out of the ground causing numerous road closures and a loss of power for almost 48 hours for some.

Cefn-y-Bedd, Coedpoeth, Rhosymedre and Rhosrobin were just some areas without power over for large parts of the weekend in Wrexham, while Northop Hall was badly affected in Flintshire.

SP Energy Network said it had hoped that all power would be restored by 8pm on Sunday evening, but warned it could be as late as 6pm on Monday.

Roads across both counties had to be closed due to fallen trees causing hazards, with county councils, police and fire services working through the evenings to try and clear all the blocked roads.
