TRIBUTES have been paid to a 14-year-old Connah's Quay High School pupil Kai Lloyd.

Last week, the headteacher of Connah's Quay High School Amanda Harrison informed parents and pupils of the sad news that the 14-year-old boy had died suddenly on November 19 via social media and expressed her sympathies.

Siân Bland set up a fundraiser to support Kai's family at "this heartbreaking time".

The Just Giving page reads: "Kai Lloyd was a very much loved son and brother. He was 14 years old and attended Connah’s Quay High School. Kai passed away on Friday 19th November 2021. Kai lit up every room he walked in. He had a fun character and his smile was infectious and when he smiled, he made other people smile. Those that knew Kai know he was genuine, kind and loving.

"As a community in times of need Connah’s Quay, Flintshire, pull together and support each other.

"This fundraiser has been set up to give Kai’s family a helping hand with Kai’s funeral costs and other expenses during this heartbreaking time."

Kai's mum, Lisa Lloyd, paid tribute to the "caring and much-loved" 14-year-old.

She thanked those who had supported the fundraiser, which has raised more than £7,500.

She posted: "So overwhelmed by all the beautiful comments and omg thank you so much for donating My boy will have an amazing send off and would be honoured for everyone to attend when we can lay him to rest."

Siân added: "Thank you to each and every one of you for your donations, kind words to Kai’s family and for sharing the fundraiser so far.

"I am sure Kai’s family will feel some comfort, knowing their community are all thinking of them and Kai."

Connah's Quay high is celebrating Kai's life in a series of tributes.

On Friday, there will be a non-uniform day where pupils and staff can wear colourful clothes to celebrate Kai's life.

On the school's social media, it said: "This will be a difficult week for our school family, but we want to celebrate Kai's life as part of our community."

"Our thoughts and prayers are with everybody in the community who feels the pain of Kai's loss."

Kai's family and friends released balloons in his memory at the Navy Club on Monday.

Afterwards, Lisa posted: "Love you my beautiful baby boy. Forever 14 my sweet caring handsome boy."
