A member of staff at Wrexham's university is getting into the groove with the latest in a series of charity events.

Head of Enterprise at Wrexham Glyndwr, Laura Gough, has been taking on a series of challenges this year, with the next event being a danceathon.

The money Laura raises from her '21 challenges in 2021', goes to Mind, Nightingale House Hospice, Cancer Research UK and the NSPCC.

She said: “As part of a series of events to celebrate turning 40, and raise money for charity, I have undertaken a 40k in a day bike ride, ran 100k in 40 days, undertaken a skipping challenge and given up sweets for 40 days to name a few.

“I still have a way to go with some other challenges like doing a handstand for 40 seconds and learning to play the piano but hopefully I will complete them by my deadline of the end of 2021.

“My next big event is a challenge to arrange a danceathon! I quickly realised I couldn’t do this alone, so after talking to the fabulous team within the Student Union and Glyn’s Bar, they agreed to help organise it and to get students involved.

“The event is meant to allow people have fun while raising money for charity. It is open to anyone, even just to come along and show your support, so I am hoping as many staff as possible can visit throughout the day to support this event and share it among their friends and family too.”

• The danceathon takes place on Thursday, November 25, from 10am to 10pm.

You can book a slot or drop in on the day. To book a slot email kieran.irwin@glyndwr.ac.uk or pop along to Glyn's Bar.
