AHEAD of White Ribbon Day (November 25), the MS for Alyn and Deeside is helping to spread the message that it is men who need to change their behaviour in order to end violence against women.

The Alyn and Deeside MS is an ambassador for White Ribbon UK, the leading charity engaging with men and boys to help end violence against women.

White Ribbon Ambassadors are men volunteers who engage with other men and boys to call out abusive and sexist behaviour among their friends, colleagues, and communities to promote a culture of equality and respect.

Mr Sargeant is taking the campaign right to the top, leading training sessions with Welsh Government officials, encouraging them to make the White Ribbon Promise to never commit, excuse or remain silent about violence against women.

The Member of the Senedd has previously worked with sports clubs across Wales including local football team Connah’s Quay Nomad’s to raise awareness of the work of White Ribbon and the need for men to take accountability for their actions.

Mr Sargeant said: "If the campaign is to achieve its aims to prevent violence and tackle misogyny, then it is men who will have to change. My role as an ambassador, is to state that fact.

“I would like to see ambassadors in every workplace across Wales, promoting the White Ribbon message."
