A WREXHAM community's scarecrow competition is raising spirits and spreading joy after a gruelling 18 months.
The Rhostyllen Scarecrow Festival has gone down a treat - with a number of brilliant entries dotted across the area.
Among them is Carl Fredricksen - the main character in Up, Deadpool, Bill and Ben the flowerpot men, Pinocchio and many more.
The overall winner will be decided by public vote.
People can do their own scarecrow hunt, by getting a paper map from the Co-op in Rhostyllen and following it to see all the entries.
They are then asked to write down their favourite entry and to post it back in the scarecrow at the Co-op.
The event runs until Sunday evening, with the winner announced the next day after the votes are counted up.
Amongst the scarecrows entered is one (pictured below) by little Aria Hodgkiss - a three-year-old Rhostyllen girl who is currently battling an inoperable brain tumour.
Her entry is Bluey - one her favourite CBeebies characters.
Bethan Hignett, who organised the event alongside Lauren Allman, said: "It’s the third year myself and Lauren have organised a scarecrow trail for Rhostyllen but we can’t take all the credit, we rely on the enormous effort from those in the village to create and display the scarecrows.
"Every year we’re blown away by just how much time and effort people make.
"Not to forget all those working at the Co-Op who promote and sell the maps for us. There’s a great buzz around the village when it’s on and it’s great seeing so many people out together enjoying it."
