THEY'VE been owners of Wrexham Football Club for eight months.

Other clubs were considered but Hollywood stars Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds eventually settled on the Racecourse outfit, the third oldest professional club in the world.

But have the duo made the right decision?

"100 per cent," said Reynolds, speaking exclusively to the Leader on Wednesday evening.

"Unlike any other club we ever looked at, Wrexham within the first 30 or 40 minutes of the deepish dive that we started to take, it was a no-brainer.

"It was perfect. The history here, the reverence for the game, the people, the town, the Racecourse, it's a no brainer."

McElhenney echoed his co-chairman's sentiments and is just enjoying being part of the ride.

"The message is the same that it has always been which is this is your club," he said.

"It's not ours - Ryan and I - but we are now a part of the story, we are a part of the journey and we want to do everything we can to make sure that this club stays around for another 150 years."

The feelgood factor has returned to The Racecourse since McElhenney and Reynolds completed their high profile takeover in February with supporters snapping up season tickets in their thousands.

The duo are adored by millions of people all over the world as actors and have now built up a huge following among Wrexham supporters.

But Reynolds insists they are trying to achieve the success they set out to bring to The Racecourse and play their part in the community.

"We are incredibly touched by the warm welcome we received," said Reynolds.

"We also don't rest in it too much because we know the challenge that was before us and at the end of the day, it is about doing everything that we can to help this club win.

"That is the job in hand.

"Part of the reason we wanted to do it is both the club and community are inter-connected in more ways that one can even describe.

"You can't really support the club without supporting the community, you can't support the community without supporting the club.

"They are sort of one of the same."
