THE date and time for this year's Christmas lights switch on event in Holywell has been announced.

In 2020, the event was held virtually due to coronavirus restrictions, with Councillors and staff arranging for the event to be broadcast live through social media.

This year, the event will welcome guests back but will again be different to the switch ons held in previous years.

The Christmas lights in Holywell will be switched on at 5pm on Friday, November 26.

Christmas music will be playing throughout the High Street in the afternoon and the council are also awaiting confirmation of a visit from the Rotary float.

There will be no stalls, fairground or live entertainment as the council are continuing to take a cautious approach due to the current situation with the pandemic.

However, similar to last year, there will be a Christmas video including a festive message from the Mayor, and entertainment from the local schools along with a performance from local choir PhilsHarmonics as well as footage of the lights switch on itself.

The video will be available to view on YouTube that evening at 7pm. Residents are advised to watch out for the video link which will be released on social media channels in due course.
