A sprained ankle suffered while walking his dog at a North Wales beauty spot resulted in the death of a young Flintshire man, it was revealed at the opening of an inquest.
Callum Jones, 27, died at the Countess of Chester Hospital on October 18, two weeks after falling while walking in Loggerheads Country Park.
At a hearing in Ruthin, John Gittins, coroner for North Wales East and Central, said that Mr Jones, of Maes Pinwydd, Ewloe, Deeside, was walking with his parents and younger brother on October 3.
They were crossing a bridge, which was slippery after rain, when one of their dogs pulled on its lead and Mr Jones slipped and fell.
He injured his ankle and went to Glan Clwyd Hospital, but when no fracture was found he was given a boot to wear for a sprain.
Mr Jones, who was deputy manager of a motor factory, later began feeling unwell and his breathing became worse.
He was taken by ambulance to the Countess of Chester Hospital where he was found to have a pulmonary embolism, or clot. He suffered a cardiac arrest and died.
The cause of death was given as pulmonary embolism due to immobility following a sprained tendon.
The inquest was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
