WREXHAM organisations have teamed up with simulator manufacturer Tenstar to raise awareness of career opportunities in the logistics and construction sectors.
With driver shortages making headlines in recent weeks, the imminent challenges facing the industry are much-debated. While short-term fixes may solve the urgent need for drivers, a partnership in Wrexham is thinking one step ahead.
A collaboration to bring an immersive driving simulator to Xplore! Science Discovery Centre is driving huge amounts of interest and since its arrival, hundreds of people have used the machine, seeing first-hand the opportunities it can bring.
Jon Sankey at Communities for Work Plus said: "We’re very pleased to be able to work in partnership with other organisations to open people’s eyes to the opportunities that are available in the driving and logistics industries.
"Having the simulator in Xplore! has started lots of new conversations about how we can help people in Wrexham who are looking for work or would like to retrain. There is real potential to create some exciting and valuable activities while the simulator is with us."
Katie Williams, Business Development Officer at Xplore! added: "The simulator has brought together so many different people, ideas and opportunities in such a short space of time. I’m convinced that a longer-term presence would continue to benefit communities and industries in and around Wrexham."
Xplore! is hosting an open day for anyone to see and use the simulator first-hand. Drop-in session will run from 9.30am and 11.30am on October 18 at Xplore! Science Discovery Centre.
