SPORTING stars across North Wales have celebrated success after a weekend of putting their skills to the test.

Earlier this month at the Birmingham NEC, the Arnold Schwarzenegger Sports Festival UK took place which saw budding enthusiasts fighting for a win.

The Taekwondo Association of Great Britain (TAGB) were asked to provide the Taekwondo action in a four Home Nation Grand Prix consisting of teams from Wales, England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

The TAGB has over 20,000 members nationwide and is the biggest martial arts association in Europe.

Gareth Pritchard runs a Taekwondo Academy in Prestatyn which is part of the Taekwondo Association of Great Britain along with other instructors who teach in Flintshire and Wrexham and after months of hard training, four members of the Wales team were chosen from North Wales.

Gareth's wife Abbie said: "We had Mike Pritchard from Flintshire on the Men's team, Lewis Byles from Flintshire on the Boys team, Elinor Bonnett from Flintshire on the Ladies team and Freya Roberts Howie from Denbighshire on the Girls team all coached by Gareth Pritchard 6th Dan.

"After a long day of competition the Men's and Boys teams were victorious winning Gold, the girls winning Silver and the ladies finishing with Bronze.

"If anyone would like to try Taekwondo, we have clubs all over North Wales offering a FREE trial class to everyone. All clubs are part of the TAGB - Taekwondo Association of Great Britain, the biggest martial arts association in Europe and established in North Wales for over 38 years.
