STAFF at a scenic country park in Wrexham have teamed up with Keep Wales Tidy to launch a new litter picking hub.

A joint litter picking event was organised by Tŷ Mawr Country Park and Keep Wales Tidy.

It was attended by a number of volunteers, who went out and about in the beautiful park to gather some litter using the new kit.

A Keep Wales Tidy spokesperson said the event highlighted how easy it was for people to look after their community.

Keep Wales Tidy Wrexham project officer Shane Hughes said: “Tŷ Mawr Country Park is an area of outstanding natural beauty in a magnificent setting beneath the arches of the Cefn Viaduct. Help us keep it that way by making use of the newly launched litter picking hub at the country park.

"You can borrow all the litter picking equipment needed to carry out a safe clean-up. It will make litter picking as easy as possible in the Wrexham area, providing everything from litter pickers, hoops and hi-vis vests to bin bags.”

More than 100 hubs have already been set up as part of Caru Cymru (Love Wales) - an inclusive movement led by Keep Wales Tidy and local authority partners to stamp out litter and waste. The hubs enable budding litter pickers to borrow free equipment to carry out a safe clean-up.

Keep Wales Tidy said it aims to tackle the issue of litter head on, making it easier than ever to borrow equipment and take positive action to improve the community.

Anyone interested in using their local hub can find more information on their website www.keepwalestidy.cymru/litter-picking-hubs.
