A COMMUNITY has rallied to support a 'lovely and happy' Hawarden mum after she was given a devastating diagnosis.

Kelly Pendry, 41, has recently been diagnosed with a Uterine sarcoma (a disease in which malignant cancer cells form in the muscles of the uterus), which very quickly spread throughout her body.

Unfortunately, Kelly was told by doctors there was nothing else that could be done and the only option was Palliative chemotherapy.

Family friends Alison Royle, Heather Lucas, Michelle Downing and Ashlee Roberts quickly decided to do all they can to help and launched a fundraiser to help the family make some final memories.

In just two days, after setting the initial target as £500, the community has rallied to show their support and so far, a staggering £7,600 has been raised.

Ashlee said: "Kelly has ongoing issues for a while but a couple of months ago she found out what it was. Last week she was given the awful news they can't do anything.

"Kelly is the nicest person you will ever meet, she lights up the room. She's always smiling, always happy and always really positive.

"When she got the news and told us, it was devastating. It couldn't have happened to a nicer person.

"Alison set the fundraiser up and after 12 hours it had already raised £6,000. That in itself just shows how loved and nice she is. Everyone wants to help her."

Donations keep pouring in, with one anonymous person donating £900 to the family.

Ashlee is also organising a raffle in the coming weeks.

She added: "We decided to set up a raffle on Sunday and we already have over 40 prizes donated.

"It's been an amazing response, even businesses are doing all they can.

"The funds will go towards Kelly making memories with her partner Michael and children Sammy and Isla. She's such a lovely person.

"A massive thank you to everyone who has donated, if people can keep donating that would be fantastic."
